      2-Key Qualifications:

Dr. El Hossary has extensive experience in groundwater and hydrogeologic studies in Egypt. His responsibilities include field investigations related to the study of various groundwater flow problems (water sampling, field analysis and water levels), interpretation of field data, preparation of hydrogeological maps and preparation of preliminary and final technical report. His experience extends to suggest, planning, design, implement, and evaluate hydrogeologic projects.

4- Practical Skills and experience

- Identification of different geological formations which contain groundwater by using geophysical methods and geological cross sections.

- Assessment of water quality and identify sources of pollution.

- Assessment of potential groundwater aquifers in the desert areas of Western and Eastern Desert and Sinai

- Preparing and delivering lectures in Egypt in the development and management of groundwater.

- Preparation of hydrogeological and potential maps of different areas of Egypt.

- Preparation and training of technical personnel in the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation (Groundwater Sector) in the field of hydrogeological studies, deep wells drilling and monitoring.

 

5- Projects and research studies

I have been involved throughout twenty two years in conducting studies and research within an integrated system of professors, researchers and colleagues from all disciplines of Research Institute for Groundwater. The outputs of such studies and research works are still so far used and updated, including the hydrogeological map of Egypt and development areas of the Western Desert. I participated in many projects as a member of a working group or the head of a working group of the follwing research, studies and projects:

1) Study of the Nubian Sandstone in Northwestern Desert.

2) Preparation of hydrogeological maps of Western Desert Development Areas as: Siwa, Bahariya, Farafra and Dakhla Oases.

3) Update of hydrogeological map project of Egypt.

4) Assessment of limestone aquifer in western and eastern desert of Egypt.

5) Groundwater Encyclopedia of Western Desert.

6) Study of groundwater potential in Halayeb and Shalatein region.

7) Study of groundwater potential in Wadi Dara, Gulf of Suez region.

8) Study of groundwater potential in Wadi Qena.

9) Study of groundwater potential in different areas of South and North Sinai.

10) Assess the groundwater potential and quality of various aquifers of the Oases of the Western Desert of Egypt.

11) Supervise the implementation of shallow and deep piezometers and productive wells at Siwa, Bahariya, Farafra Oases.

12) Member of the Nile Consultant Office in the Yemen Rebublic (2006) as a hydrogeological expert to undertake and review all previous hydrogeological studies were carried out on Sana,a Basin and preparing groundwater potential maps for the basin.

13) Preparation and reviewing of technical reports of Eastern and Western Desert, Sinai and the Nile Valley.

14) My current position is the Head of Desert Research Department for exploration and development of groundwater resources.

Client:           Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation

Project Features: Evaluation of the Groundwater resources at Sana'a Basin.

Position Held:       Expert of Hydrogeology.

Activities performed: analysis and interpretation of previous obtained field data (subsurface lithostratigraphy and structure geology of the proposed area for preparation of basic maps and construct the interpretation and final hydrogeological maps and finally evaluation of the available groundwater in the Sana'a Basin.
